UP Coffee App Reviews

Decent concept

I wont re-iterate all the problems others have pointed out, but you should know that it seems like the app broke at daylight savings time. I have two November 1st entries and none for today(November 2).

good idea, needs work

I really enjoy using this app and the idea behind it but the app itself is extremely flaky! The app has repetitive problems and they need to be fixed.

Has potential. However…

I see the potential here. I like that you can integrate this app into the health app for easy tracking however I have a few flaws I would like to point out. The interface seems more fun then useful. The database of drinks is quite small. And you are not able to input the amount you drink. This app has the potential to be awesome. Especially since it is one of the very few caffeine trackers on the app store.

Great Idea, Less Than Stellar Implementation

This is a great idea. I like being to log this information and have it integrate with the UP ecosystem and HealthKit too. However, this app is pretty buggy, I had to reinstall it as it would not sort my dates and entries correctly. After install, it began to show my entries on the right date. It also frequently does not save the data correctly. Entering new entries often defaults to the current time. While that is useful sometimes, any change to the date/time is ignored and on save, it uses whatever time it wants to. Now this can be overlooked as its a new app, I mean, I can go in and change it again. But the most problematic thing is that on the Save action, it stamps the HealthKit entry with the wrong time too! Furthermore, changing it in the app after the fact does not save to HealthKit! So that leaves me with incorrect entries in HealthKit that I will have to edit to ensure that its correct. I would recommend users to disable the HealthKit integration until this is fixed in a later version.

Needs improvement

What is going on with my schedule? Ever since daylight savings time switched, my caffeine consumption has moved over a day. Please fix, because I love my jawbone apps but I am sick of this bug.

Good Idea... Poor Execution

The base idea is great, but the app is really slow, its hard to adjust the time of caffeine consumption, and I havent been able to link my UP fitness tracker since I upgraded to the UP 2. I think Jawbone forgot about this app.

Lots of bugs

The idea is really awesome. Definitely learned a lot about my coffee intake and realizing I need a lifestyle change. But the app is really terrible. Its laggy. Its buggy. It takes 15 days to get any data, which is not very useful. I dont really care about the pot with caffeine rolling around the screen. Id much rather care for an effective tabulation and understanding of my caffeine usage. I can do that more effectively in Note. The potential is there. Develop it!

Broken, broken, broken

**UPDATE** I hate to be one of those people that say dont bother, because honestly, everyone should make their own opinion, but seriously, this time, DONT BOTHER. Heed the warnings of so many. The app has so many issues that the developers refuse to acknowledge and fix. ***************************** For months the app has been logging in caffein intake for the day before. For example, say I put in a cappuccino for today at 4, it logs it in as yesterday at 4 - and no amount of manually changing the date will fix those issue. It always bounces back to yesterday. Guys, you have a great idea, but you clearly arent listening to your customers because we are all complaining about the same thing.

Up vs Up Coffee

This app is creative and pretty good. But it should probably sync the nutrition facts with the Jawbone Up app.

Bugs

If I enter a drink hours after I had it, it wont take the time I entered manually and I have to go back a second time and adjust it. After about a year the app becomes so slow and eventually unresponsive and crashes. The only solution then is to delete and reinstall it -> data loss. I just had to do this again. If that would be fixed I would rate this app much higher.

Good concept but not all features work properly. Lots of bugs

Certain things dont work. Cannot set male/female in profile. It always takes two tries to edit/update caffeine intake time. Caffeine amounts do not reflect new recipes at Dunkin Donuts (they increased the amount of caffeine in their coffees). No iced coffee at Dunkin.

Good app, but needs bugs fixed

The app used to work correctly, but the current version (at least on my phone) enters the caffeine entry for the day prior but fills the caffeine bottle for real time. And example: if I enter a caffeine entry for Monday January 18, 2016, it puts the entry under Sunday January 17, 2016 under log entries but the caffeine measurement bottle fills as it should for current consumption. This app works but needs some bugs fixed.

Ive been looking for an app like this!

Im pregnant and was looking for an app to track my caffeine intake. I used to drink Starbucks everyday and Diet Coke or 2- clearly not healthy for the little one but necessary as a stay at home mom of a 3 and 4 year old. I wish it would let you set a goal. For example I want to stay below 150-200, it would be nice to show percentage and how close I am to that amount every time I add a cup of coffee or a soda.

Love this app, but...

I liked and used this app every day but had to stop using it as it became so slow to enter data as to be useless.

Neat interface but no real benefit

The app itself is well-designed, has a very intuitive interface and looks very good. Typical of other jawbone apps, I enjoy the user experience, but there is little to no value here. After logging caffeine intake daily for three weeks the only analysis I have been provided is the percentage of my target sleep time based on overall daily intake. The app tells me nothing about quality of sleep, or how time of day for caffeine consumption has impacted sleep quality. Overall this is a fun app to look at and play with, but it doesnt provide any real or actionable data.

Love this App, Want to be able to add new drinks into the list

I love this app, but I want to be able to add new drinks and save those drinks into the list. Like my Optimum Nutrition Energy protein has 120 mg of caffeine so I have to enter it as a custom 100 and a custom 20 drinks instead of just saving a new drink with that name and caffeine content.

Love this app! Better sleep quality

I have been using this app almost every day for 10 months. Love it. I just caught a glimpse of a review that said "what if I dont drink my whole...[whatever]" - um, I use "custom espresso" for that. For ex, if a 12 oz diet coke is 35mg of caffeine but I only have 6 oz, I put in that I had 20mg "custom espresso." There are even inputs for tylenol, chocolate bars, specific choices for Starbucks versions of drinks (they brew coffee 2x strength, so it has more than homemade/elsewhere, as does their iced coffee). You can input your height & weight which you can update at any time, as you can your target bedtime, so it is always telling you projections based on YOU. Also, one tab will tell you your usual sleep total after x range of caffeine, so you can see your patterns over time as you keep records! Oh, & you can even tell it your level of caffeine sensitivity (which it takes into account), which you can also alter later based on what you learn from the app itself. Whenever I think to have more caffeine, I input it BEFOREHAND to see what the results will be for my quality of sleep, & act accordingly. Such better quality of life in the last 10 months, esp. combined with my Up Jawbone & Up app. (And no, Im not being paid - I wish; Im just that pleased.)

Customization

The app need to be more customizable. The cup options are very limited. Most of my coffee cups are 10oz and the options you give dont include that number. I would give it more stars if that option was available

Has promise, but fundamental issues exist

The database is far too limited on options. I drink a 10 oz. cup of coffee each morning, but am limited to 8 and 12 oz sizes only. Also adding an item after the fact stores it at the wrong time. For example if I enter a coffee at 1:00 pm that I took at 8:30 am, it gets recorded at noon? Huh? This then gets incorrectly synced to HealthKit, and deleting an entry in the app does not delete it from HealthKit. Im probably done using the app til these bugs are fixed.

Upper left tab for gauge not working

I tried customizing caffeine sensitivity by clicking upper left hand corner gauge and then by clicking my self described level of caffeine sensitivity. Clicking upper left brings up next window, but then clicking the "highly sensitive" tab does NOT WORK - nothing happens. And your app is also not allowing me to click male or female - again nothing happens. iPhone 6s Plus IOS 9.2.1
