UP Coffee App Reviews

Not finished

App not updated with the new drinks from rockstar , Starbucks etc. The newer drinks have more caffeine. Changing amount one has drunk would be a good improvement too. 6 weeks in; the app still has no insights that it can share despite me drinking caffeine about 3-5 times a week and having it sync with health data

KUDOS for Healthkit implementation….

However…….please offer an option to automatically program the same amount of coffee entered. I drink the same amount of coffee everyday…i want to not have to remember everyday to manually select how much coffee I drink…if I drink any other caffeinated beverage..then i could just manually add it..but having to enter my four cups of coffee everyday is a hassle. If for whatever reason, I don;;t consume the usual four cups of coffee..then I could just delete the entries…but at the moment once in a blue moon this happens…..healthkit implementation is beautiful…it just works!!! just please add the option to repeat coffee drinks in the same amount….Monday-Friday or Sunday….this app has potential please don’t give up on it!!!

Really helps!!

helps keep track of an individuals intake I found it absolutely helpful and the information provided made drink without affecting my sleep at night, give this app a try. You wont be disappointed.

Useful self-quantifying app

Needs update: optimization for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus screens. Then its a 4 star app minimum. As someone who is sensitive to caffeine consumption, I find that this app is a useful way to turn my caffeine consumption into useable, tracked data. The app has even more usability if you use the UP or UP24 fitness tracker, which is nice. Health integration is also really nice for quantified self people. The app is also not perfect in allowing me to quantify exactly how much caffeine Ive had. I want to be able to mark down half of a Mountain Dew, or that I consumed a cup of coffee over a half hour period. All things considered, its a useful app for me, and its stayed a part of my daily life.

Good at the one thing it does!

Feature requests: pull sleep data from HealthKit (as others have also requested). Also, it would be AMAZING to add the ability to check in on Foursquare through the app. Weird request, I know, but I bet itd get a lot more younger people using your app (and eventually buying your hardware). *shrug*

Make this new-iPhone compatible. Small selection of coffee.

No love for this app? Super mediocre coffee database. I cant log my 4-shot Caramel Macchiato in 2-click. I have to log a Caramel Macchiato and then manually add extra Starbucks espresso shots to compensate the extra shots I added. Why not add support for personalized coffee and let users save them as favorite? Just...at least update the UI for iPhone 6/6+. Cmon Jawbone.

Just Pitiful for a National Brand to Behave This Way

THIS APP JUST CRASHED MY PHONE!!!! The app is super slow. Caffeine gauge no longer works. The developers lack of care about their products is quite clear in their refusal to fix the multitude of bugs. Its now clearly dangerous to the health of my phone to continue using this app. If this is a reflection on Jawbone as a whole Im happy I brought a fitbit.

lack of choices

Need to be able to add my own supplement if what I’m taking is not one of your choices to select from.

Data Errors; No Support

The app is good in concept, but has major errors in data. Just one example: Mtn Dew Kick Start is listed with the same sizes and caffeine content as regular Mountain Dew soda. Reality is it only comes in two sizes and has over half again the caffeine. On top of that, the custom beverages aren’t customizable at all. They have a set number of options and none of them are flexible. Find a problem and want to help fix it? Good luck. The folks at Jawbone UP support don’t seem to even know about the app’s existence, and the Jawbone social media reps just tell you to contact support. So there’s no support. Sync with the UP app is good, so if you’ve managed to guesstimate the right caffeine levels, you’ll have decent information. You’ll just have to really work for it.

What if I dont drink my entire cup of coffee?!

Sure, the bouncy balls in the Erlenmeyer flask are fun to play with, even if it does slow down the phone and eat away at battery life. And sure, the app data syncs with Health and other apps. And great, your sleep data from the "reliable" Jawbone Up syncs to tell you how your caffeine intake effects your sleep. But actually this app is really just about the bouncy balls. The data to Health is far from accurate considering a) the database of caffeine-based beverages is painfully and uselessly small, and b) the app doesnt allow you to input the actual amount of said beverage you consumed. Has anyone heard of fractions? I may pour myself an 8oz cup of coffee, but only have time to drink half of it. Or worse, ⅔s. Adding up larger drinks may appear to be problem-free, but only if (and I repeat: fractions) youre having cups in measured doses of 8oz, 12oz, or 16oz. And dont even get me started on how incompetently it predicted restful sleep! So why am I not giving this the absolute lowest star rating available? Because bouncy balls.

Too many touches

From within the app, it takes 4 touches for me to log a cup of coffee. Thats more attention than I want to habitual give to data entry. But hooray for HealthKit integration!

Pretty shtty, buggy and crashes all the time

Works fine since I have a Jawbone as well. Sometimes sends a friggin coffee log to UP ap 4-5 times. Sometimes doesnt even send. So random. Also please add "cortado" to drinks list.

Still needs some work

I really like the idea of this app. Unfortunately there are a few glitches that need some work. For example if I input a drink at 10am and manually adjust the time to 7am, it doesnt adjust on any of the graphs. Also the app asks you how susceptible you are to caffeine but thats VERY subjective. It would be better if the app tried to establish this for you. It also relies on sleep data from my Jawbone UP, which is not very good at determining when I wake up in the middle of the night. There is also a section called "the science of you" that says it will attempt to use your data to reveal your relationship with caffeine. It should take 15 days. Im currently on day 23 and the screen hasnt changed from when I first loaded the app. Either the function is disabled or it just doesnt work. Either way it is a problem that looks like the app is half done. Seems like an amateur mistake. I hope the developer will improve this app.

Too Buggy

I love the idea of this app since I have had issues with caffeine and sleep, and I was thrilled when I found out that my Jawbone Up could link to it. However, after nearly 24 hours, I have yet to even get my Jawbone account linked because of glitches at the login point. Very, very disappointing, especially since it keeps recommending that I do so and yet it wont let me.

Like it but some flaws

This app is great but there are some annoying things. I dont know what ready for sleep and wired actual milligram values are. That would really help because Im most interested in that value. Also the bars on the chart look like they sometimes are off by plus one or two hours?

Time for an update ?

There are some shortcomings that does not allow me to give a 5 star to this app - 1. Crashes a lot on iOS 9 2. Slow 3. Unit options need to be in metric also 4. Overall app feels outdated Its a great app but feels old and lanky.

This App Is A Must!

I just downloaded this app yesterday and its already one if my favorites. If you drink a lot of coffee or energy drinks I highly recommend this app.

Just a side project

I thought I heard that this app was the result of a code camp or developer convention; an assignment was given to throw together an app to measure caffeine consumption. I dont think there is actually a team manning this project.

Not updated and broken

App has seemingly been shelved.

Very helpful very fun

I dont usually review apps but I love this app and was surprised at how much I actually used it. With calorie counter apps or other Heath trackers I got bored very quickly and gave up, never using it more than a week at most but with one is so useful I cant even imagine my day without it. I would recommend this to anyone that, like me, love caffeine in any form and wants to be more aware of when and how much they actually consume. I think it could be improved if it had some way of recording when you start feeling the effects of when it should start wearing off or if they had more options for the input but overall its great. I love the little flask too, its cute but also provides a quick glance to how much caffeine youve consume.
